[While his roommate is off elsewhere for the evening, Akechi has dragged Sumire over for an impromptu slumber party, to discuss the mission in further details and to talk about how she's been settling into this place.

(And maybe just a little to gossip a little about boys.)

This kind of closeness with anyone is new to the boy, but Sumire makes it feel surprisingly easy. The similarities between them - the grief and shame they both carry - Akechi knows that she understands him in a way that no one could ever hope to.

So it's maybe a little silly, but he's sitting behind the girl on his bed, braiding her hair back perfectly, bare fingers threading through red locks while he grumbles.]

Both of them seem to think my feud with this woman is all too amusing.

[Sometimes, Sumire feels bad about the whole Mistie thing. If she's being too rough on Akechi or too much of a bully. In a way, she's taking out some of her familial sibling feelings on him and Amamiya because she misses her sister so bad. In a way it's also pushing them together.

Yet, she knows they would have figured it out eventually and the two of them aren't or ever will be Kasumi...

But in moments like this where Akechi is speaking about Mistie? She can't help but live a little. It makes her giddy and feel important in a way she feels overlooked otherwise. To catch someone like Akechi's attention is a feat and she's pleased. There's a little flush to her cheeks as he plays with her long hair.]

You'd think Amamiya-senpai would at least be sympathetic since it involves him. [She sighs, it's silly that she feels safe with Akechi, because if he knew she was Mistie, he'd kill her.]

But honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if Kitagawa-san started to draw art for it with how passionate he is.

[Behind her, the boy's scoff says everything. Sumire wouldn't need to see Akechi's face to guess that his expression is all twisted up into a scowl aimed right at the back of her head, his lips pressed together into a tight, irritated line. And the whole time, his fingers never once pause, working through Sumire's beautiful hair.]

You would think, wouldn't you? But he's so entirely smug over the whole thing. Bastard...

[For how quick the former detective's been to suspect literally everyone of being Mistie, Sumire has somehow avoided that list of suspects entirely. Which is exactly why he feels confident speaking to her now. She's the only one to have shown that her loyalty to him in this attack against his character.]

Don't even joke about it. Just the thought makes me sick.

[Dropped off at Sumire's door while she was out is a beautiful hair brush with white bristles and an ornate swan carved into the paddle. It's left with a short note-]

Yoshizawa-san,
I recently received this from the vendor during that last fae party. While I have no need of such things, I instead offer it to you. I sincerely hope you get some use out of it, though if nothing else, perhaps it will look pleasant on your vanity.
